Preschool

A Strong Foundation for Lifelong Learning
The preschool at Lycée Français Louis-Pasteur in Bogotá welcomes children from the age of 3, offering them a safe, caring, and stimulating environment to take their first steps in school life. Through age-appropriate play-based and educational activities, children develop autonomy, language, motor skills, creativity, and social-emotional abilities.

Starting school at an early age has many advantages: it fosters focus, cooperation, idea expression, and readiness for elementary school. The French pedagogical approach encourages intellectual curiosity and a lifelong love of learning from the very beginning.

Education

Elementary school

Elementary school welcomes children aged 6 to 11, structured into two key learning cycles:

  • Cycle 2 – Fundamental Learning Cycle, which includes CP (first year), CE1 (second year), and CE2 (third year).
  • Cycle 3 – Consolidation Cycle, which encompasses CM1 (fourth year), CM2 (fifth year), and extends into the 6th grade (first year of secondary school).

Following the official curriculum of the French Ministry of Education, this educational approach ensures that each student acquires a solid foundation of knowledge, skills, and culture. It prepares them to pursue their academic journey and become responsible, well-rounded global citizens.

At the Lycée Français Louis Pasteur in Bogotá, students thrive in a rigorous yet supportive international school environment. The school emphasizes academic fundamentals—language, math, science, and the arts—while nurturing curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.

Children benefit from a multilingual education in French, Spanish, and English, promoting cultural openness and linguistic fluency from an early age. Each student receives individualized attention in an inclusive setting that supports both academic progress and personal growth.

In summary, elementary school is:

Mastering the French language and acquiring foundational math skills are the primary goals of elementary school, ensuring students have access to essential tools for learning.

From Cycle 3 onwards, students also explore science and technology, history and geography, and art history. They benefit from extended English teaching time and start learning some subjects directly in English.

English instruction begins in Grade 1 (CP), alongside lessons designed to encourage intellectual curiosity, arts education, physical and sports education, as well as moral and civic education.

The school recognizes the diversity of each student’s abilities. Along with reasoning and intellectual reflection, it fosters observation skills, a passion for experimentation, sensitivity, motor skills, and creative imagination.
